How to Jump Start Your Metabolism First Thing in the Morning

After you tuck yourself in at night, or after you get tucked in by your lover (how nice), and you fall asleep, your metabolism starts slowing down and is at it's slowest when you open your eyes again in the morning. If you want to lose weight, jump starting your metabolism first thing in the morning, is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your efforts.

Since metabolism is made up of three components, namely your Resting Metabolic Rate, the Thermic Effect of Feeding and the Thermic Effect of Physical Activity, your Resting Metabolic Rate is of course what keeps on going through the night. The other two however, is what you can work on to get it going, so that you will burn more calories during the day.

Many people find it hard to decide whether to exercise in the morning or evening. When you do this first thing in the morning, not only does your metabolism get a great boost, coming from slumber land, you will also energize your body and your mind, to feel great during the day. After you have exercised, you should have a decent, calorie controlled breakfast, to fuel your body in the increased levels of energy that it now needs. Cool down for a while and then have a wholesome breakfast, containing all the necessary nutrients (some lean protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats). Even before you exercise you can indulge in a tasty fruit smoothie, or other natural carbohydrates to fuel your body.

An optimized and continually active metabolism, along with a calorie controlled diet, are the only ways that you will lose weight successfully and permanently. Get into the habit of an active morning routine, and see how the bathroom scale will start thanking you in no time!
